Creating the Light Within: Double-Walled Thrown & Pierced Vessels

  • Hambidge Center 105 Hambidge Court Rabun Gap, GA, 30568 United States (map)

In this inspiring, hands-on ceramics workshop, you'll learn to create stunning incised forms and double-walled vessels that seem to defy physics and conventional thought. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Designing Forms: Start by designing open and closed vessels that "speak" to you.

  • Creating Patterns: Explore patterns using texture tools, and learn techniques for altering and incising pieces.

  • Throwing Techniques: Master the art of throwing tall, even walls, creating bulbous forms, and making multi-piece forms.

  • Building Larger Forms: Progressively create larger pieces, limited only by the size of your kiln.

  • Adding Character: Incorporate texture, alterations, and incising to add unique character to your designs.

  • Wheel Mastery: Learn tips and tricks to enhance your time at the wheel, including body dynamics, speed, and hand positions.

By the end of this workshop, you'll have a new perspective on mastering the wheel and creating impressive ceramic pieces. Join us for a journey of creativity and skill-building!

You’ll be asked to bring along your "can't live without" throwing tools.
