“the intentional and focused creative energy fostered at hambidge is potent. it is palpable. it is obvious in the considerations and anticipations of the staff. it is evident in the fellows that get the incredible opportunity to visit and work and play and recharge or charge on! and the work that they create. not just what they make or do or refine or birth or gestate while in this valley of betty's creek, but also by what these artists are doing before they come, the calibre of their practices, what they bring. they are up to speed. and then, being given the total permission and sustenance to go even deeper for a couple weeks, or step back for a fresh perspective...set in one of the most beautiful and diverse forests anywhere. wow. (the heart being both siphon and reservoir.)

i feel very fortunate to have met and shared and learned about my very talented fellow fellows, and i am honored to have been able to experience a hambidge residency. the easy and total wheelchair accessibility of my studio -brena- made me feel incredibly welcome and comfortable and well cared for, and able to work.

it was perfect. really.

the impact of time spent at hambidge is actually measurable and can be immense.

personally, i loved my time there and thrived and made some significant progress towards a cohesive body of work, producing several pieces including a few of large scale. and the work is hambidge-centric, and would not be what it is if hambidge was not what it is.

thank you.

i am grateful beyond these few words.”
