SATURDAY PROGRAM

Ctrl+Alt+Del - CUBE GALLERY

This exhibition, curated by Daricia Mia DeMarr, presents work by artists living and working in Fulton County, Georgia. Selected artworks address how the technical command Control-Alt-Delete expressed itself in the real or virtual world over the last year. This key combination interrupts or facilitates interrupting a computer program. It serves as a command to suspend and/or reboot the system. What was interrupted? What has been reset or rebooted in the lives of artists living and working in Fulton County?

Show is open through June 25.

1. Floyd Hall will present Seeing + Sounds, featuring an evening studio projection and a series of streaming recorded audio content. He will be on site, available to meet and discuss his work with visitors.

2. Arvin Temkar will host a participatory Blackout Poem display, for people to create found poems from other texts like magazine and newspaper clippings.

3. Matriarc Society

4. Dance Hub Atl

2:00pm, 4:00pm

  • Catherine Messina and Meg Gourley will be showing a duet created entirely at Hambidge bringing together the concept of unlikely pairings in a fun, spirited, physical work.

  • Jacob Lavoie will be sharing a new dance work inspired by growth and connection. His collaborator Roberto Rafael Navarrete prepares an installation called Banyan Sanctuary II... Nudos y Alma.

  • Nadya Zeitlin will be sharing excerpts of her work in progress on the topic of burnout.

3:00pm, 5:00pm

  • Frankie Mulinix (Vandellous), Becky Shanks, and Steph Johnson, Frankie Mulinix (Vandellous), Becky Shanks, and Steph Johnson, will present an audience participation piece exploring rest, as resistance. Using singing bowls, movement, energetic work, and rest they will create a healing space for attendees to participate in this consciousness-shifting experience to the level of their desire. “Your value does not lie in your ability to be profitable.”

5. Jasmine Nicole Williams and Sierra King will host a FINAL GATHERING for visitors to view and collect limited editions prints and rare collectibles of Black Memorabilia and Ephemera.

Jasmine and Sierra welcome visitors to learn about updates in their practices and what's next for both artists. There will be music, laughs and more!

Due to COVID-19 precautions 10 visitors at a time will be allowed in the studio

6. Jessica Brooke Anderson offers visitors (one at a time) an opportunity to select a gift from her collection of family objects. She recently inherited 3 houses worth of heirlooms, and is using this opportunity to redistribute these items to the community. In exchange for "adopting" a piece of her family history, she is asking to photograph each object with its new owner, in hopes of creating a new family tree, made up of strangers, all interconnected through the lives and objects that came before.

7. Visit the Teller Productions Workshop to see artist Scottie Rowell’s rolling performances of Once Upon a Boat, a Cranky Puppet Adventure. Also enjoy the space's sensory booth and experience Push. Press. Pull. an ever-changing art installation exploring human’s love of buttons. Only one family/group/pod allowed in the space at time.

8. Genesis Park Adams (aka FRANK/ie CONSENT) will transform their studio into a world called 2 idle ducks. This interdisciplinary art installation is intoxicated with the nostalgia of a friendship that was lost during quarantine 2020. At the top of every hour they will share a 15-minute movement piece that is in flux with a textural soundscape with visual art and media components.

The Hambidge Cross-Pollination Art Lab is supported by the LUBO Fund and Fulton County Arts and Culture.
